Breakout to VM

I was wondering with embedded vm, is there a way to breakout by pressing 0 or whatever to go to VM?

You can set *0, *2 or *3 for this

What would i put in the DTMF breakout box in manager, or would it be a SC?

Put in the destination in that field
Embedded uses the * in from of the 0
Vmpro doesnot need the *

But something would have to go to VM first right? In order for me to do that....I would need to hit a VM box? Im sorry, little slow here.

What exactly do you want to do? What do you mean by break out to VM ? Do you mean break out of VM, as in once the call goes to VM you can press *0 and be put through to the operator? As that's what tlpeter is helping you achieve.

Yes you are right
When the caller hits voicemail they can press *0 for breakout but this must be configured in that field you mentioned
Also this must be announced in the greeting otherwise the caller won't know that it is possible :)

Yeah basically after hrs i want to be able to check our mailboxes. You would call and hear VM pick up, then you could hit something and it would prompt you for a user ext, then ask you for password and allow you to check your messages.

Not possible, you need vmpro for this
Embedded does not have that option

But if they called in and they heard their VM pick up, you could then hit *0 and they could check it?

No it is only for transfers to an internal or external number and nothing else

Ok, thats what i thought, didnt know if there were any tricks to get around that. Didnt seem like it was possible.

That is why i prefer vmpro all the time
It is value for the moneu
It gives so much more options
I think it is the best voicemail system there is

Create a Short Code
*98/?/Voicemail Collect
then create an auto attendant (Go to that section inManager and press help) as follows
Key 0,feature Normal transfer to *98
Then point a spare DDI/DID to the attendant
And as long as they have a code for VM setup it will prompt them for there extn and code then play their messages:)

Forgot about that option :)
But then he could also use that shortcode in his breakout
OR maybe a shortcode for every user but then it works
