Boss/Secretary feature with DND 1

Hi

We have some IP Office installations where the most important features are "Boss-Secretary sets". All calls from boss phone are routed to the secretary telephone and only specific persons can call directly to the Boss. In each installation we have ~80 "Boss-Secretary sets"

To reach this feature we use DND with exception lists (where secretary phone number is placed). The problem is BLF signaling - if extension has DND enabled then their BLF key is steady red even on the secretary phones. If the secretary press Boss key then she sees some options on the display instead of normal BLF one touch calling.

We are looking for solution to disable DND indication on the BLF key. Excepted behaviour is that BLF key to the extension with DND enabled will work the same way as for extension without DND.

I saw that it was possible in very old IP Office Version (4.1).

Hi try USER button instead BLF.
How you have configured routing calls from boss to secretary phone?

Hi,

I meant the "USER" button when I wrote about "BLF".

Routing configuration:

1. Boss extension has enabled DND with Secretary extension on DND exception list.
2. Boss has enabled Voicemail
3. In Voicemail PRO i have configured custom "Leave" action for Boss extension: transfer to Secretary extension.

When incoming call comes to Boss extension. and caller's number is not on the DND exception list then call goes to Voicemail and is routed to Secretary extension.

I'm afraid that DND is blocking signaling on BLF/USER button on secretary phone.

My config was:
1. Boss with DND and secretary in exception list
2. On secretary phone Coverage Answer button with Boss extension
3. USER button on secretary phone for calling to Boss for just on one click

above works well but problem was with Call Log - if nobody answers incomming call there will be nothing in CallLog on boss or secretary phone... Avaya claims that works as designed and we can open request for new feature in next releases...

What about call og in your config?

@rgrask - With respect, if you have a a separate problem with your particular configuration, start a separate thread.

Dumping your problem on top of @Marcin Stasiek request for help with a different aspect of the boss-secretary operation is not helpful and will make the thread responses confusing.

Create a Group with the Boss' extension number and give the Boss a hidden Extension
Then in the incoming call route set the incoming caller ID for the allowed outside people to go to the Boss' phone
Give the Secretary a button for that new extension number of the Boss' phone
You can also give the Boss a button to enable and disable the group calls in case the secretary is out for the day or lunch and the boss wants to get calls directly.

Calls are in the call log at secretary phone for the HG calls (if enabled, so enable that)

This might work, it does in my head at the moment but think it through and see if that works for you
