Hello,
can anyone tell me if its possible to block incoming calls from a particular number or exchange? I have a 61c...I tried to get the CO to block the calls but they tell me its not possible.
any insight would be appreciated.
thanks

Only the CO could actually block incoming calls, you could send them to vacant number routing. In a pbx you can only really control outbound calling

do you have symposium? not an easy fix but if you can use a cdn to route inbound (non did) then you can route inbound per clid.. it's a major task. your provider should be able to block that

Thanks phonz1,
I will keep pressing the CO...

Hi johnpoole,
unfortunately not...its becoming a nuisance as I suspect someone is trying to get thru dial access to the outside.
thanks

couple of things to check for.. disa, i never leave it turned on.. the biggest hack is users voice mail.. a lot of switches with did allow casual passwords.. if your setting the vm box passwords to the ext backwards, everyone has already guessed it.. if i dial a did, go to mail, press * and try to log in.. if i guess a pwd in 2 tries, i can set the 0 out option to 9.. then if your rpls are not tight, i dial the did, go to mail, press 0, get dt from your switch..

best way to block that is with mail rpl's.. even if you set your 0 option to 9, it's local only.. my vm agents are ncos 1 and the rpl's do not allow 0 or 1 as a 1st digit..

look for cfxa, ld 81 lst, then at feat cfxa.. another forward to 9 that can cost..

phone hacks are not as common as they once where.. but it happens, we use auth codes.. but they are posted in most depts..

Thanks johnpoole,
I checked the permission lists, but i will take your advice and go through your suggestions.
thanks again,

What is it that is happening that you want to block an exchange?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Hi Acewarlock
we have received numberous collect calls from one area code/exchange that have made their way though our mail...they are collect calls but i am wondering if someone is trying to get an outside line...thanks

If there collect calls, then the telco can block them. We had that done at our site so we can't receive any collect calls.
