It is indeed.
Although I rather have seen that 7.0 was the next release who needed a license.
Hopefully they fix 6.0 before 7.0 is available :)

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

So the SD cards they are shipping out, what when I get one that is still 6.0.8, after the GA release of 6.1.....Do i have to pay for an upgrade until they can get the 6.0 SD's sold out, and fill stock of 6.1??????

Kind of crappy to pay for an intermediate release when they said we would only pay for major releases.....

Whats Shoretels number again?

Telecomtecperson,

don't worry, when you have a new ip500v2 then you can always upgrade to the most current release.
You have 100 days after the first made call.
You then do not need a license.
The ipo will remember the highest level so you can downgrade and go back when ever you like.
This is very poor documented by the way.

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

well since he works for avaya and not just the messenger, it would have made several of us feel better ;-)

beside, its all metaphorical anyway. but never the less, there were some pissed off but yet unsurprised punters there. since the r6 workshop we were all told releases from 6 -> 7, 8, 9, 10 would be paid for however since the management has all changed in the US, they have re-negged on the deal and decided to charge for intermediate releases too.

nice, real nice.

I got the metaphorical bit... (believe it or not)

You are quite correct that the upgrade model has changed from what was punted at SS 6.0 launch workshop. Rather tha giving TJ a metaphorical kicking, the metaphorically targetted arse for kicking ought to be someone who can make a difference - like your scansource account manager, or if you have one your Avaya account manager....

They are backing themselves into a corner again, similar to the way they have with the new support model, it'll slowly effect sales and product quality in a negative way and then they will need to charge even more for what we already get in the shape of more licenced features.....mark my words :)

Poor Terry he is a nice guy & its not his fault Avaya are rewriting the rules. He would be the sort of guy to buy you a pint. Although I have met him 3 times & he has yet to do this!!!

Avaya Account Manager? What's that - oh like Smurf's or Unicorn's....

"Never fear billing a client for services rendered, or they will think your time is worthless"

wow... what great foresight. when faced with a market of "free" alternatives....

I had a site today that decided with 6.0.18 onboard, it would not recognize the SD card any longer.
SO... SIP trunk LICENSES no longer valid.
initially they just said Invalid and the license server dongle number said none in the system tab.
after reformatting the card and recreating via Manager twice! (first attempt came up with directory or file corrupt error!!)
Also, in Primary folder, there is a config.cfg file of valid length, 107Kb, but also a $$$config.cfg file with a later date with 0Kb length.
Guessing that's the money shot there, but haven't had any official communication really confirming the best course of action other than recreating the SD card?

The licenses then showed as malformed.. well. all but 1 instance of IP Phone Endpoint was still Valid the whole way thru?!
So luckily they had some ISDN basic rate lines to make/take phone calls on, all the SIP trunks were unregistered due to the licensing.
That is one very average call to take from the ITSP saying it's actually not their problem (for once! ha!!)

How is everyone else handling the revisits to do with the SD cards?

Is this going to be sorted on later V6 releases post release of 6.1, 7 etc?
Almost as bad as windows with pre installed breakages that require someone else to fix!!
Except we're out there competing with other brands and recommending they take this "SAFE, WELL SUPPORTED" option.

thoughts and comments pleeeze... sorry I've had a pretty average day resulting from this..

Cheers,

Chris

I Was informed by Mr Jones that if avaya fix a bug that is in 6.0 in 6.1 and then tell you to upgrade then T3 have to give you the licence for free!

I spoke to Scansource today and they are re-negging again and will only charge £30 for the intermediate releases now.

Anyone see this in a price list. I can only see the full price version!!!

Scansource can only do what Avaya does. Every distributor is getting grief because of the big A in Basking Ridge.
