Best way to access a 3300 from the internet.

I have a Sip license and set up an extension and I was wondering what would be the best way to be able to make calls from anywhere.

Would having the 3300 open to the internet be a bad idea? Does STUN work kind of like a firewall? What if I closed all but the necessary ports?
 
You could setup the WAN port to connect the 3300 directly on the internet. Sip trunking should also be available behind your existing firewall.
 
The way I was thinking of doing it was to have the router map an external address, 1 to 1, to all the ports of the 3300's internal address.

Is the 3300 set up to not let a random person connect and start messing around, sending stuff through those ports, so they would have to be registered with an extension to be able to access the ports?
 
I think you still experience some 1 way audio conditions. The Mitel MBG (Teleworker) application has greatly reduced in price and would be a good solution for you. For a good SIP client I would look at
