BCM50 Fax Answering and Direct Line Access

Hello All. I'm new to BCM50 configuration, so please bear with me.

We have a small site, with 2 CO lines. The main line hunts to the second line, which is the fax line, but also handles incoming and outgoing voice calls. Both lines are in Line Pool A, so they can be used by a couple of analog stations. The fax machine is on a separate analog DN.

I'm pushing inbound calls on the fax CO line to a CallPilot CCR tree, and trying to use the Fax Answering feature to route direct fax calls to the fax DN, while providing menu options for connecting voice and voice-first fax calls. The Fax Answering feature does not seem to be working (it doesn't seem to recognize the CNG tone from my fax call) so all calls are going to the CCR greeting. Is there any trick to getting the Fax Answering feature to work from an auto-attendant or CCR tree?

Also, I'd like to have the fax DN access the fax line directly when the fax machine goes off-hook (not have to dial 9). I thought that making the fax line (line 062) the Prime Line for that station would do that, but it didn't work. Is it possible to have an analog station immediately grab a CO line when going off-hook, without dialing a routing or access code?

I have found that the analog extensions need hot line programmed.

For the CNG, I assume you have the CP set up with Configuration/Fax Properties/System Extension with the correct Fax extension. Do you also have line 62 set to answer 0 rings? When an incoming call is answered it can take up to 10 seconds before the CP decides to send it to the fax extension.

JasonPM - Thanks for the reply. The Hotline programming seems to work fine (on my test system - the live system is about 400 miles away). And knowing about the time-to-detect for the CNG tone is the key. We have a very short greeting and menu, so the system defaults to the attendant number.
