BCM450 MBM Slot Not Working

Pretty weird problem here. I think I've got it isolated down to the mainboard but I really can't afford to replace it so I want to get a second opinion.

Problem: Any module in slot #4 will not provision/work.

1. Known-good DTM, DSM32+, ASM8+ put in slot #4 do not work.
2. Any other slot it works.
3. I re-seated the flat internal DS256 cable between the CIF and the slot backplane (doesn't help)
4. Swapping the two flat cables causes slot #2 not to work instead of slot #4 (so it's not the slots backplane)
5. I have a spare mainboard so I swapped mainboards but kept HD the same (problem completely goes away.)

So one slot doesn't work when the original mainboard is installed. But all slots initialize/provision/work when the other BCM450 mainboard is installed.

Anyone seen this issue before and/or have suggestions on how I can fix it?

This is the first time I have tried to use slot #4. I have to assume slot #4 has never worked with this mainboard but I just didn't know about it.

All DIP switches are set correctly (ALL ON).

Does the module actually power up or does it just show unequipped in System Resources?

If there is no power led, check the molex connector on the backplane for proper voltage.

It it powers up but continues to show unequipped, have a close look at the female slot on the motherboard where the card plugs into. There might be something stuck in there preventing continuity.

If all that is ok, I think you can just replace that board on the back where the modules connect.

I've had this happen before. I actually just sold it to a company that repairs them. Perhaps you could just send it off for repair.

This may actually be your system. I bought it as an open box BCM400-to-BCM450 upgrade kit from Techforless about 3 years ago. Sat on a shelf until I tried to actually use it.

1. Upgrade code was invalid (already used)
2. Site ID had to be reset because it already had keycodes on it

I guess if I need four MBMs then I'll just use an expansion.
