I currently have a BCM 400 version 4.0.
I am trying to connect SIP trunking with an outside SIP Line Provider. I have purchased and downloaded SIP Trunking key codes for this purpose. But I am having difficulting with the necessary prompts to activate them.

Is BCM 400 version 4.0 compatible with this feature? What must I do get this working?

Thanks JIM

I don't think the 4.0 can do SIP external I know it can do network sip trunks between sites. 450 5.0-6.0.

4.0 was never tested/designed with a sip itsp. Looking at some training material from BT, BT support bt sip itsp using bcm450 pr bcm 50 release 5 or later.

Thanks for your response.
I presume that this means upgrading to BCM450 platform

Depends on the ITSP. I have been able to get calls to pass on a BCM400 R4 using SIP and H323 to provider.

BCM R4 will not do SIP authentication and Nortel only implemented this in later releases. If your provider can use IP authentication as opposed to SIP registration you may be able to get it to work.

Khosher,
I would welcome your input on how this was setup.
IP Authenication is the issue as you have stated. Please provide me with the specifics.
Thanks
JIM

Hi Jim,

Best to start with what you have done so far and what settings your ITSP has given you. Hopefully then I can fill in the gaps for you.
