Hope someone can help.

I have the above mentioned BCM. I have one i2004. It registers and works, except for a one way audio issue. I have tried three sets total with the same results.

I can make/recieve a call at the set, the other party(internal/external) can hear me on the IP set, yet I get no DT or audio from the caller. I do however hear the set generated blips related by key presses.

To rule out any network issues, I have gone as far as connecting the device DIRECTLY to the 2nd NIC using a X-over cable; obtaining the same results.

Do you have the default gateway/ Next Hop IP programed in the BCM?
Does it match the one you programed on the set?

I have had this happen where the DN gets fubard in the bcm. Blowing out the dn then re-adding it brings audio back to life.

Thanks Bel/Knack-

Yes, and yes.

DFgateway and IP settings match set and BCM.

I have de-reg the set and brought it back as another DN...Still the same.

I have done MANY IP set w/ NO issue in the past on many other BCM's on diff releases. Unfortunatly, this site only wants 1 set, and it is making me look like I dont know what I'm doing. The Client is about to give me the boot.

Download and install the softphone that's on the BCM and try to see if that works. If it does then there is some sort of problems with the ip phone. If not then you know it's the BCM. At least narrows it a bit.

It's windows on there so a reboot might solve you grief as well.

Post if you figure it out.

Obvios question are you current on patches? I rember there being a patch out for this along time ago.

Also those older version BCM always seem to like a good reboot every so often.

Thanks for the response.
I was told that I have all the patches and they are uptodate.
I have loaded a softphone and it works! The issue is that I have tried 3 new "hard" sets and they all have the same issue. firmware is at the correct level and I have baffeled my Auth Nortel dealer. I'm sure that it is an issue that Nortel can fix, yet forking over $1800 turns my gut. I will give this post a bit more time, but my Client is pushing for a resolution.
Thanks again

Maybe the firmware on the Hardware IP phone doesn't work because it is too "new". Look for an old version of firmware and upload it to the phone. Run a tftp server from your laptop and try to get the phone to take an older version of firmware.

Maybe first connect the phone to the system then in programing force firmware download from the BCM, but I don't know if that will work if the firmware on the set is newer.

You can't send new firmware to a 2001/2002/2004 via TFTP. Only the 2007/11xx/12xx support TFTP firmware download.

Well, still having this issue. I thank everyone for the responses. Does anyone else have any ideas on a resolution or even a work around?

Is this phone on the same subnet ( network segment) as the BCM?

Thanks Knack

Yes. Also, as stated above, I have gone as far as hooking directly to the second NIC with a X-over cable with the same results

Just to clarify, you do have other IP phones that are working right?

If so ( I hope) can you dereg one of the working ones and take a non working set and reg it in its place?

Note-
I have upgraded to 3.7 and installed all of the patches(in order)AND STILL HAVE THIS ISSUE. I was assured that this would take care of it. Now what?

K-

Only one (bloody) IP set on this system. DeReg and Reg, tried 3 sets ...ect.

P.S.- softphone works fine...wierd uh?

So...

3 ip phones - fubar'd
1 softphone - works

Can you get one more ip phone? Beg, borrow, or steal one?

I brought in an old (purple) ip set too. It was not compatable.
Funny thing is... I took one IP sets (i2004 Bezeled) to another client on a 3.7 and it worked fine and the ended up buying it(Thank God)

"strange things are afoot..."

Thnks K

OK so the sets work on other BCM's....

Time for a call to Nortel.
