Greetings TekTips, have a quick question for you I have BCM Element Manager open and I am still getting used to using it.

I would like to see how many active lines I have (by lines I want to add more handsets to our building. I am not looking for active outgoing lines I know we can have 13) but rather I want to see how many physical lines I can add still. Is there a way using BCM Element Manager can I see what lines I have left / available?

Let me know if you need more info.

lines- mean trunks
sets- mean phones

So when your asking for lines its going to confuse people. Look at your active keycodes and see what you have or view active sets. The main cabinet can have 4 trunks, 4 analog sets, and 12 digital sets. Does your system have any expansion mods?

Norstarboy thanks for the info. We want to add more sets.

Specs:
BCM400
v4.0.2

I am trying to figure out what this other hardware is we have.

M12x0 (External Lines?)
M0x16 (Internal Line?) x3
GATM4
DSM32 x3

If my math is correct does that mean we have the ability to have 144 sets?

I'm sorry I was thinking you said BCM 50 for some reason. You have a BCM 400 which can be expanded way more. Looks like by your hardware you can have 144 sets so yes your math is on the money.

Looks like you have a nice size BCM. You have some Norstar style modules mixed with some MBM's. Yes you are correct too by thinking
12x0's are for lines/trunks and 0x16's are for stations/sets.

Ok thanks; is there a way that I can check how many sets I can have in BCM Element Manager? I see all of my active sets under Telephony\Sets\Active Sets (Looks like 111 used).

I looked under Telephony\Lines\All Lines but there are 400+ Lines.

Can someone explain the difference? I just need solid proof that we are currently using X number of lines and we can still add X number of lines.

If you look at inactive lines added to the active lines this should get you the number of sets your system is configured to use. I will not get into the dipswitch settings as that can get to confusing. The real point I think you need to look at is if these DSM32 x3 are punched down to anything. As long as you have open ports you can add the set.

Ok thanks everyone for the help!

You all have been a big help.

Just looking for a little more clarity here;

dj4020 when you say take (inactive lines + active lines) are you referring to Active Voip or Active Physical Lines?

If thats so I was wondering if you could give me a description of what the difference is between the following
PRI (Private?), Voip, Loop, BRI-ST4,
(I checked google, was inconclusive) because my readings are all of the chart.

Also will BCM detect if the lines are punched down or not, or does it just report scalability not availability.

Basically Im tasked with finding a definitive number of how many sets we can add and we were told only 3. How they came up with that number I need to disprove but by adding the (inactive lines + active lines) I get 233 (if I am to add: PRI , Voip, Loop, BRI-ST4)/
