I have heard that there is a way to backup the telephone settings and voicemail to a disk, in the event of a major meltdown. Does anyone have any information on what is needed to do this. And what software is required. I have a FastRad device that is connected to the system that has a standard 9 pin connector. I am assuming that is what the device is for. What exactally can be saved and is it very common that a meltdown happens. And yes, I am asking because we have no textbook informaton. So any information would be greatly appreciated.

What you are looking for is Norstar Remote Utilities NRU, You would need to contact your Norstar distributer and, unfortunately, lay down some $$$. Provide the software version to be sure that you have software compatibility. I think the backup tool came into effect on MICS/CICS software ver 2.0 (NRU 4.0). JerryReeve

The NRU will back-up all of the programming on the Norstar KSU. If you have a Nam voicemail you can use blank floppies and the floppy drive built into the Nam. If so go into VM prgramming (F983)and press 22. You will be prompted to insert floppy, then follow the prompts on the display. (You may need more than one floppy). This will back up all mailbox programming, mailbox greetings, and AA settings. It will not back up messages left in mailboxes.

Also go into F915 (pass= access2)press "next" until you see Bckp/Rstr, press "Bckp" and follow the prompts. You will need one floppy for this. It will back up config settings like the # of voice channels installed.

Hope this helps.

feature 983 login as above...then enter 33 to restore programming of the VM. It will prompt you. darnold@americaii.com

Back up and restore work with Norstar Manager and the old RAD as well for system T1 R1 and below. Just real slow.
