Hi,

Can someone tell me how to flash firmware into a Seagate drive, and what tool can I use to do it?

The frimware that Ineed to flash is not a seagate firmware therefore I could not use seatools to do it.

Thanks,

Luis

Why would you use another vendor firmware on Seagate instead of Seagates?

I am trying to use this drive within a clariion

You cannot just use any drive with a Clariion. You must us an excepted part from EMC.

yes, I have a drive that is supported by the clariion, but it has the wrong firmware on it. It is also formated to 520 bytes/block.

What is the drive P/N ? IE STxxxxFCV
What firmware are you looking for ?
What F/W is on the drive now ?
Is the drive in a working Clariion array ?

Yes, the drive is in a working clariion, but the clariion does not see it. The drive is a Seagate ST3146807FCV and the current firmware on it is D010.

That ST3146807FCV with D010 is not the correct F/W
for Clariion or CX. D010 is a Symmetrix DMX drive.
They are not interchangable.
Correct CX/Clariion firmware is 7A04 or higher.
The firmware file is impossible to get out of EMC.
If you find it. It will have a .lod file extension.
fdf. download files will not work. They are for drives
that are mounted and bound to an array and are flashed
via navisphere or CLI.

Thanks for the information, I have the file .fdf but I could not get it to work. I thought I was only for upgrading firmware to drives that already have the EMC firmware in it.

.fdf files load only on drives that
are of the proper EMC family.
Drive must be online and bound.
And only via the native system.
So a Symmetrix drive D010 cannot be flashed on a
Clariion system and vice a versa.
