Good day all.

I’ve installed an AVPP-II with 5 Avaya 3645 handsets. The phones register and work but I’m having a problem with call quality to the handsets. I get a lot of static noise and call break ups. The one thing that I have noticed is that the signal strength on the phone is very low even if I stand close to an access point. I’ve had the company that installed the Motorola wireless network in to check there setup and they say everything is setup correctly from their side. Please could someone help me with this?

Step 1, throw it all away....not even sure why you would use a product that even Avaya wont claim.

Step 2, But Avayas DECT Solution

Step 3, Watch as DECT solves all your problems...

Step 4, "Office Space" the AVPP, its worthless

Assuming that you do not want to throw it all away as the previous poster suggests you can investigate to see if the Motorola unit is broadcasting on the same freq range as the spectralink. From your description chances are good that you have competing wavelengths in the air.

Does a laptop show low signal strength at the same distance? If so all is not well with the Motorola install :)

Im telling you, you would be better off throwing it away, everyone knows those things dont work....AND Avaya wont even support them....so,

In any case, you need to know what freq they are operating on, and change it to a different one if moto is on the same one, that def could be the issue.

I have put in several of those system, and they have ALL been replaced due to terrible QOS, and trust me, we exhausted ALL avenues to fix them.

And the 3645 have been known to have major issues with connectivity, so dont chase your tail too much on the WAPS.

My experience has been that the phones work OK and its usually the wireless network that causes the problems. Make sure the wireless gear is configured to recognize and prioritize the SVP traffic. If you have the newer firmware on the sets and the WLAN supports WMM, you can lose the AVPP entirely and run native WMM.

Notice how it says Vendor after his name....and they worked OK? Ok isnt acceptable when people need phone service.

If you like you can always post the video of a ritual sacrifice of some spectralink gear. I would watch. But I think even that would not satisfy your disdain for the equipment.
