Anybody have this working? I just built a new Windows 2003 server to load the software on there and for some reason it cannot find any endpoints.

Here are my specs...

Windows 2003 Server Standard SP1
SQL Server Express with SP2
Avaya VoIP Mon 4.0
Avaya S8500 4.0.1
Avaya 4621 and 9640 End Points

Yes my IP-Network-Region and sys-param IP-Options forms are filled out.

Thanks for your help!

I ran into an issue with the default database password for the VoIP Monitoring Manager not meeting the OS Security Policy requirements. There is a database script file (I can't give you the name because I don't have it loaded right now) where you can edit the password and then you should be able to re-run the script to create the database structure.

Alternatively remove the Security Policy restrictions for password complexity then load the software then restore the policy.

Interesting James. I had my SQL password set to Avaya2007. Ill try throwing a special charachter in there and see what happens.

The PBX is definately sending out the info though because I put a sniffer on the Windows server and it see's all the traffic coming in from the IP phones on port 5005.

Yes its a monitoring tool.

Jim,

I reloaded the entire server and reloaded the VOIP manager. I used Av@ya2007# as my SA password for the SQL server. Now I didnt load any service packs for the SQL server this time but would that really be causing the issue. Im still getting the same issue when trying to search for endpoints. I get the pop up that says no endpoints found.

i have the same issue have you resolved this
kind regards

No I havent. Ive reloaded on an XP machine as well and had no luck there. Tried a different VoIP Mon CD still get the same error. No endpoints found.

I think I've just about given up.

I have no experience with this package, but my generic suggestion would be to install wireshark ( (it used to be named ethereal). Wireshark is a packet sniffer and it often helps me understand what is and isn't working for a network application.

I am running in to the exact same thing... Any luck finding the problem? Wireshark shows traffic coming in to the NIC... VMM just seems to be ignoring it.

No I havent had any luck. I put ethereal on my port and I see the PBX sending out the information to the server but I cant see anything in the VMM. Exact same issue you are having.

I've pretty much given up on it. If you find a fix please let me know.

Thanks.

Did you go over the VMM installtion procedures?

You have to make sure the SNMP Service is installed and working, and then you MUST configure a community name with read-write community rights... after I do that, it usually comes up right away, after a reboot :)

I have rebuilt a server with a clean install of W2K3 on it. Popped in the VMM software and loaded it. During the installation it asks for the W2K3 CD so that it can load the SNMP service. Once I do that I create a SNMP community name of private with read/write access. Still nothing. I've done this oh about 30 times and it never works.
