I have an Avaya Partner system that began dropping all calls all at once last weekend. Sometimes all of the calls will just go silent for a few seconds and then will resume and sometimes it will completely disconnect all calls at once. Any idea what's up? Thanks for your assistance! Tim

did you have Thunder storm in the area?
I had systems get pooched with that and the solution was to replace the processor. Maybe one or more of your expansion modules are wanky so try it if the problem occurs stand alone just the processor

Adding to what Westi said. When your calls drop...do your displays on your 18ds or 34ds go blank, then your get a whole bunch of flashing red lights throughout the phone. I have seen this problem way to many times to count. Each time the problem has varied from a defective processor, a defective 308 card, a defective UPS, a defective carrier once, and even a bad channel bank coming in from a Clecs T1. The best way to start is to notice what is happening on the phone when the drop happens. The better thing to do would be to dial into your system and look at the maintenance log. You would be looking for a high amount of either cold starts or warm starts. Or you could place a camera on your ACS and see if any of the green lights go out. I hope this helps.

Have you tried re seating all cards in the carrier?
Check for any obvious signs of damage? Burnt spots on cards?
All green lights on cards?

Thanks for your input everyone.

I believe I have a bad 308 Processor. I went to do a manual backup and attempted it 4 times before it was successful. Every time it began to backup, all calls would go blank and then come back up.

I swapped out to a spare processor and did a restore everything came back up just fine.

I will have the processor refurbed and see what happens.

I believe that Avaya still makes the R6 processor. If that is the version you have, it might be better to purchase a new one rather than repairing the old one.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
