Avaya partner (not sure if r6 or r7)
No VM, 2 lines & 5 18D sets
Incoming calls ring twicw then on hold
Occasionally ring twice then disconnect

#111 - ASA button indicates ASA off
#110 - answer delay set to 9
#204 - set to un-assigned for both lines
#121 - set to ringing

Struggling.......

One one of the phones, make an "auto-intercom" button for EVERY extension in the system - 10 through 17 or 18, 76, and 78-79.

Watch to see which extension lights up when the line is "auto answered" - you may have a wire run with a high resistance short, a defective port, the RAC modem assigned to the call dist group, etc.

Thank you TTT

As the equipment is remote had manager view all phones to find the culprit
No extension auto answered.
Removed patch cord from port which was running to a location which no longer has an telset attached.
Problem solved!!
Guessing bad cabling but as it is to an unused jack no urgent need to track it further.

Thanks for the insight

We had a similar issue, every morning office people come in and the system has line 1 seized. reset system , all is fine, until the next day.

Turns out there was a line cord on the floor of the warehouse, every time the fork truck drove over it to take garbage out (1 time every night) it would short out and grab line 1.
