What is the procedure to change the numbers of rings it takes for the Automated Attendant to answer and Avaya Partner Release 6?

What is the procedure to create a sub menu in the Automated Attendant? This is the current message:

If you know the extension # of the party you are trying to reach please dial it now. To access our dial by last name directory press * 2

I would like to add a menu that says:
“To hear a list of extensions, dial *5 or something along those lines." Then I would like to list the extensions with the option to transfer to the extension. Is this possible?

Which voicemail do you have?

Do you have Voicemail card? Or Voicemail module?

From ext 10 or 11, press Feature 00 (enter programming)
left intercom, left intercom
#506 (VMS Hunt Delay)
1 for Day (2 for Night)
Line: _____ (ie.. 01)
Rings: ____ (0 through 6)
Feature 00 (exit)

Voicemail-
If you have Partner Messaging or Partner Mail VS, you can have sub-menus. I would recommend going to the Avaya web site, under support, and download the programming guides There is a flow chart that makes it easier to program.
What you basically want is to use selector codes. Usually you start higher than the first digit of your highest extension numer, probably 3. If you get into your VM programming, hit 3 for Auto Attendant, 6 to modify. It will ask you to enter a selector code. Enter 3 (4,5,6, etc..)it will list your options.

Since you have *2 for Dial by Name available in your system, it's going to be Partner Mail or Partner Messaging.

Use a submenu. Have the callers press some single digit, like 5, and direct that to a submenu, such as Submenu 5. In submenu 5, record the directory of extensions, remember to tell the caller to dial *4 to repeat or *# to return to the previous menu, then set selector codes 1 through 4 to Direct Extension Transfer.

Thanks for your help. I was able to figure it out based on the feedback. The one issue I came across was this: I had to create the sub menu from the main menu. I tried to create sub menu 5 from within the AA prompts and it did not work because the menu did not exist. Once I backed out and created the sub menu, then option 5 worked from within the AA.

Thanks Again!
