We are testing the Avaya one-x mobile sip 6.2 app on the Ipod Touch IOS 7. When I try to make a call, the speaker comes on and the app does not let me unselect it. I have looked through the docs for the Avaya app and found nothing that mentions turning the speaker off. I have also looked on Apple's website for info but it only happens when I use the Avaya app. Thanks.

The iPod isn't a phone...it wouldn't have a default talkpiece and earpiece like an iPhone, so the app probably defaults to whatever it can use.

I don't know which gen of iPod you're using, but its possible Avaya built it to an older hw spec that might not recognize an actual ear/mouth piece in the device (if there even is one...) otherwise, bluetooth...

Side question: does the iPod touch even let you plugin Apple-style headphones with the talkpiece for a phone? Or is it just a headphone jack?

Kyle,

The Ipod touch lets me plug in ear plugs but its the same issue where if I call someone, no one can hear me. I am working with Avaya but so far they have not come back with anything.

Yeah, but does the iPod touch support the 3 ringed headphones that have a talkpiece in them? I had a really old ipod touch 2nd gen and the only way to get voice into it was thru a bluetooth peripheral. The 4th gen touch was the first with a built in mic. My experience with Avaya and iOS apps is that they're about a year or 2 behind on them. To say, the first flare experience for iPad couldn't do video for a year or so because it was designed for iPad 1 with no front facing camera. I had my iPad 3 for a while before Avaya's app was updated to supportthe newer apple hardware. I'd go out on a limb and say Avaya's development of the app is for older hardware and something magical happens inside that says "oh, you're an iPod? You can't possibly have an internal mic. Bluetooth or nothing!

I have (2) 5th generation IPOD Touch devices and it does not matter if bluetooth is on or off. IOS 7.1.1.

Yeah, what I'm saying is Avaya's development might be behind and not support that new stuff in current touches. My iPad with a front facing camera didn't have video for a year because the app wasn't cognizant of the iPad having a front facing camera.

is there a way to back the version down of the IOS so that it is compatible? Not sure if anyone has done this.
