Avaya IP Office Professional Certification Implementation Training 1

I'm attending the Avaya IP Office Professional Certification Implementation Training in a few weeks. Unfortunately, Avaya is brand new to me. I have completed the AVA00916WEN (IP Office Platforms) and AVA00139WEN (Voicemail Pro) courses. Any other material(s) I should go over / learn? Any and all recommendations are appreciated!

You can take the test online to assess your knowledge and it won't count against you. I may be remembering wrong but I thought you got credit if you attend an authorized instructor led course without having to pass the test online.

Test aside, just be aware that they changed a lot of stuff over the years. It isn't hard to understand or figure out but it can leave you scratching your head when you look at an older system for the first time. Like version 3 has no ARS Table and you used to have to create secondary dial tone through a short code. They've also redone a lot of the licensing over the past couple versions. Just don't promise anything to someone on an older firmware until you have a chance to check it out.

Welcome to the IP Office, it really is a great product.

thats decent advice ragnorak, it really is important to know what is and isn't possible across versions, along with the licensing restrictions which seem to change every year or so.

It does seem to be a GREAT product, sort of like a working BCM 450 on steroids! Thank you for the advice everyone, I have a lot of knowledge to absorb!

It has its flaws, for sure....and its not as flexible...but, its still a great product. And btw, ill be in your class :D

LOL, just sayin, ive seen some flexibility in phone equipment. IP office doesnt hold a candle to hosted PBX.

really? i saw someone last week who literally got on their knees and begged to have a phone system installed so they could ring their hosted providor and tell them to poke it.

in the uk at least hosted is still pretty poor. although i hear TT is single handedly looking to change that :)

its not poor if you do it right we now have in excess of 1000 users on our platform and have no problems

Our company that we have hosted email with, has over 10,000 users on hosted PBX, there are a TON more options going with that over, than goin with the IP office, im NOT trying to argue, IPO is becoming my bread and butter so to speak...BUT, im not blind either, I was just telling TLpeter what planet im living on.

Its also nice having burstable options, redundant power supplies, etc etc etc.

tbh, the argument as to whether hosted or an in house pbx is better will always lie with the end user and their needs. if the implementation is shit, then you're screwed, regardless of solution or brand.

I totally agree, a company of 10 people is different than being Microsoft.

I am just sayin, IP Office def. has its drawbacks, just like all the others do.

Hosting is totaly different and has nothing to do with if the ipo is flexible or not.

Hosting is mostly done with enterprise systems.
