hey,
i have a problem....Once a person leaves his voicemail, it takes like five minutes to appear in the voicemail box and forwarded to email and during this period the line remains busy as in no any other call can be placed until voicemail appears in the voicemail box.
Can this be resolved. i have an avaya ip office 500v2 unit with a combo card atm v2, i have connected a gsm gateway (that holds my sms chip)to one of the trunk port and have an avaya ip phone 1408 on the other hand that receives a copy of a voicemail and the other copy is sent to my email.
please help me out guys.

You're using an analogue line, the GSM box needs to send a disconnect clear signal (break in current) to the system otherwise it doesn't know the other party cleared down :)

sorry amriddle01 i did not get you. so you mean there is no way i could solve this?

Not unless the GSM box supports disconnect clear. This is a limitation of analogue trunks and why disconnect clear was devised, so devices that emulate analogue lines need to have some sort of reliable disconnect or you will have these issue with voicemail and auto attendants... regardless of system used. You could try Busy tine detection on the system but again if the GSM box doesn't supply that you're snookered :)

i checked with my gsm module (g36) manual and one of its generic requirements to connect it to any pbx , is that the trunk card must support either busy tone detection or polarity reversal detection on answer or release. so i suppose if i am able to configure this for my trunk port on the avaya things will be ok right?...and if am correct can you please help me how to set this on avaya ip office 500 v2

hey guys is there no one around. or did i ask something unreasonable? please pardon me on that..thanx [ponder]
