We have a project in flight that is based on an Avaya Aura architecture. Customer has expressed a desire to use their Exchange UM environment as the centralized voicemail platform.

As such the design will consist of a number of CS1000 and IP Office systems connected to a centralised Session Manger, which in turn manages the dial plan and connectivity to services such as SIP trunking, voicemail, etc.

Goal is to establish a connection from Session Manager to Exchange UM to provide centralized VM service for the PBX's and Key systems as they are added to Session manager.

I understand there will be a requirment for a SIP gateway between Session Manager and Exchnage UM.

Desired connectivity would look like this. A single Avaya Session Manager instance is the "hub", with multiple CS1000 and IPO systems connected to it.

CS1000 7.6<==SIP==>Session Manager 6.3.3.<==SIP==>3rd party Gateway<==SIP==>ExUM

IP Office 9.0<==SIP==>Session Manager 6.3.3.<==SIP==>3rd party Gateway<==SIP==>ExUM

I am concerned with delivering a supportable solution that can scale. Has any partner/customer deployed such a design? I really need a Sanity check..

well yes and no cs1k and ipo as you know will link to SM it all depends on the third party app and exchange um , integration i would search dev connect to see if one of the integrations have been tested then at least you have a start point , what i do know is you could do all this with the IPO and VM pro as your voicemail platform
