Good Afternoon,

I can't seem to figure out how to make an OptiPoint 410 automatically pick up the line that's ringing on a phone when lifting the handset. We have several phones that do this and a couple phones that instead will automatically grab the prime line. I thought this was done in Assistant by checking the box for "Auto Incoming Call Sel." but that didn't have any affect. I've changed this before in the past however, right now I'm having a brain cramp, what am I missing? We have OpenScape 4000 V7 R2 and I use both Assistant and ComWin.

Thank you, have a good week all.

Rob

Terminating Line Preference is what decides if the phone picks up the ringing line or not when you answer, if I'm not mistaken.

I compared my extension (7816) that automatically selects the ringing line when I lift the handset to the one that does not (2860). That phone (2860) is one of three front desk phones that all have the same line appearances. Two of the phone work as intended but the 2860 always grabs the prime line when you lift the handset even though a call is ringing in on another button. All four phones are identical models OptiPoint 410's. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make this work.

OK, just because I have people here that ... don't get it.... Do you happen to have those phones in a pickup group? I have people that get confused even though my pickup group signals with a triple beep instead of a normal ring, and they say things like "why can't I answer my phone when it rings" (because you have to push OK or Connect for a PUG call), or "why does my phone keep ringing and the calls are never for me" - because if you would look at the display you would see it's not for you!! I had one group that was so bad I just took it away....

Just another thought pathway. Also with the ringing line preference, if there are 2 lines ringing on your phone at the same time I'm not sure how it chooses - possibly if one call is on your Prime line it would take that first, and another possibility is whichever one started ringing first.

You might browse to the phone webpage and check the keyset features. There are terminating preferences in there for the IP55, It been a while but I think they are in there for the 410's and 420's too.

You can see the problem in the AMO output. 7816 has RIOP ringing option of appearance set to YES for all lines. 2860 only has RIOP set to YES for the prime line, the secondary lines are NO.

CHANGE-KCSU:STNO=2860,TYPE=SEC,KYNO=9,STNOSEC=6003,RIOP=YES;

Then call 6003 and answer with off hook on 2860.

Nice catch! I didn't notice that! :eek:)

Thank you Moriendi that was the problem all the line appearances on extension 2860 were set to non-ring. As soon as I changed them to ring we were able to pick up the calls on line appearance buttons just by picking up the handset. Again thank you donb01 and Moriendi for all your help!
