Hi,
I would like to know how to turn off the auto memory in Windows XP. Simple question I know, but I can't find it. I just don't like my user ID's already showing up on all of my sites.

Thanks for the help!

Chris

Very confusing, the way it is written. Which auto-memory? What "user ID", on which sites?

I think he is refering to auto complete or tool insertion. Ill go over a couple of these considering it could be a few that are doing it.

For internet explorer auto complete. Go to tools, internet options, content, click auto complete button, uncheck all boxes, click clear forms, click clear passwords, now close internet explorer and reopen it. If thats not it try this next one.

Google toolbar for internet explorer. Click options on google toolbar. Make sure browsing tab is selected. Now look down and uncheck the autofill box. Now click apply and ok. If this is not it try next.

Mozilla Firefox browser. Go to tools then options. Click privacy, click clear all button and click ok. Close mozilla firefox and reopen it.

If none of these help try explaining a bit more on what is happening. Hopefully this helps.

It its your XP login copy the following into notepad, save it as a .reg file, and then run it.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"DontDisplayLastUserName"=dword:00000001

Cheers.
