Hey guys, I am a Nortel guy that inherrited a IP office switch and I am lost. Is there any easy way for me to complete this request listed below. To be honest, I never even opened an IP Office book before. If it was a Nortel this would be very easy for me. Thank you.

Assign XXX-XXX-7007 to new employee, Gary Smith and build voice mailbox. Forward x7007 to conference room phone x7020. If no answer at 7020, revert to mailbox 7007.

Welcome! We are sorry for your loss! i mean! you will love your new IPO!

we need particulars- IPO 412? 500? We need the software version? 4.x? 3.x? 5.x? and the version of manager and VM pro that you are using. Just for kicks and giggles also throw in your favorite day of the week and vacation spot! Just kiddin!

Beets? Yes! Ask me how I feel about Beets! I like Beets!

particulars arent needed.

mailboxes are created automatically. you need to create a new icr or modify the existing icr to get 7007 to ring at the extn.

set a fwd no answer on 7007 to 7020. if it doesnt answer then the 7007 mailbox will pick it up anyway.

if you're going to be looking after them then you should. if someone else put you in charge of one without any training then they're an idiot.

Don't despair about it. I was in your shoes not long ago. You will like the IPO because you can do things that we wished we could do with the BCM. I read the docs and played with the demo until I went for training. People that did not come from Nortel shops and have always been working on Avaya don't understand what its like to change.

thattekguy,

Has a 'User' for "Gary Smith" already been created in Manager? If so, click on the 'Forwarding' tab in the 'User' section for ext 7007 and plug in ext 7020 in the 'Forward Number' field and make sure 'Forward Unconditional' is checked. If no one answers at ext 7020 the call will automatically be redirected back to ext 7007 mailbox, provided it is programmed for voicemail. ***NOTE:Once a user has been freshly created, it should automatically be ready for voicemail.

As far as the 'ICR' (aka Incoming Call Route), in the ICR section, create a new or select an existing DID you want to setup and click on the 'Destinations' tab and plug in the ext you would like it to be assigned to.

I highly suggest that you get some training or do some in-depth reading on the system, though. I think you'll be pleased with the system and appreciate it more if you do so.

Don't forget to use the always handy "help" in Manager. I was there with you too, coming from a Nortel background and learned to love the IPO as my new adopted stepchild of an awesome system!
