I have recently noticed a problem with my Arcserver application when attempting to restore a directory. Somehow, I am unable to restore anything prior to 1/31/02. This was the last time I performed a full system restore and placed it on an off-site tape. Now, all my backup jobs are running successfully and are performing a prune and purge nightly. I can perform a restore by session and restore the ENTIRE session successfully. But if I try to double-click to scroll down throught the session tree, I get the message that there are no items to display. If I try to do a restore by tree, the structure is the same as when I last performed a backup on 1/31/02. I have tried to merge my last good backup but have had no luck. I can verify that the backups are successful, but somehow the database is unable to reflect that information. Any ideas would be appreciated on how to resolve this issue?????????

I'm having the same experience with ARCSERVE 2000.

Any help appreciated.

Hi,

Try this:

1)Go to "Manager" --> Database

2)Open your latest merge and let it load all the files into the view

3)Then go back to restore and try to open the session.

Thanks for the posted response Baphumet. Unfortunately this didn't help my problem any. When I review the merge information from the database, I am still having the same problem. The job displays okay, and I can select the sessions, but none of the fles or folders appear in the right-hand side window. When I try to restore I still can't review any information prior to 1/31/02

We have notice the same fact (not display all subdir, all files, for informations we have 1500000 entries each night...), but we could make file(s) restore by the Query Option. It's not easy but it's work

This is a problem with BTRIEVE. I have had the same issues and had a call open with CA in Australia for 6months. The Issue stems from BTREIVE and Arcserve's interaction with it.

There are various TIDS on the CA Website explaining BTRIEVE and the BTI.CFG file that has to be edited with additional parameters to stop your AS DB from corrupting.

A quick way to check if this is the problem is to look in the AS Database Directory and then in the DBSCAN directory and look if the files that are in there are 0.KB. IF this is the case then the information is not even being written into your database hence nothing displayed in your sessions when you try to restore.

Once you have followed all the TIDS about BTREIVE and the BTI.CFG file on the CA site you will need to rebuild your AS DB. Also rebuild the MKDE logs dir which can be found in SYS:\system\MKDE\Logs. This is done by renaming the dir to logs.old and recreating a new one called logs.

Give this a go as it has worked for me with alot of persistance.
