Hello -
I am presently running ArcServe 2000, version 7.0, build 1100. I am using a media type as HP SureStor DLT40. This is all connected to a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I am using Agent-level backups on 2000 Server & Exchange 2000.
I am abale to backup my mailboxes without an issue.
However, when I try to backup my file server, I get the following messages (and lots of them):
* AE0016 Unexpected return from FindFirstFile API. Unable to backup files after (FILE=D:\Home\jcox alias, EC=2,The system cannot find the file specified. )
* AW0004 Failed to open file <D:\Home\ICON?>. RC=123, The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
* AW0004 Failed to open file <D:\Home\lbrown\Zip Files\ALL PHONE LISTINGS\ZSC - UPDATED 02?19?01>. RC=123, The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
The application runs and runs, but never backs up anything. I end up cancelling the job and get a job cancelled message (duh).
What am I doing wrong here? I have both PCs and Macintoshes on my network, if that's any help. I don't know if it's an issue of ArcServe being a pain-in-the-butt software or if this all has to do with Macintosh files. I never seemed to have problems until recently.
Do I need some agent to read legal Mac files (i.e., special characters that Macs allow in the filename)?
Please advise as I am no longer sure I have a valid backup.
Regards,
