My company has created a temporary position for me. A sort of trial period. After this trial period, they will decide whether or not to keep the position for good. If they do, the pay will be more than my current position. I am curious what would be the appropriate salary range for the position. The most difficult thing about figuring that out is that they are unsure of the title for the job, though "analyst" was a thought. I'll try my best to describe the job:

It would be mostly reporting on a lot of the company's statistics. Currently, we use several different programs for keeping our stats. Most of my work is done in MS Access or Excell. I often work with a co-worker (our existing analyst), and sometimes by myself for other side projects.

Often times, I will have to pull information from several systems all together in Access or Excell. I have a pretty reasonably extensive knowledge of both Access and Excell, and often have to use it. I also often learn new things through the position.

I cannot think of how else to describe the position (that is the problem), so ask any questions you may need in order to clarify. Anybody have an estimate on such a position's appropriate salary range?

should be able to give you a basic idea for your area and position.

Salary ranges vary nation wide as well as by position and years experience in the position or field.

Sounds like a Management Information Analyst to me.

Cheers,

Probably the only Test Analyst Manager on Tek-Tips...therefore whatever it was that went wrong, I'm to blame...

Well, the problem with using salary.com is that I don't really know what my job title is. Also, I performed a search on DPlank's suggestion, and that didn't seem to turn up the right title. Did turn up a bunch of other stuff, though.

Wow! Nevermind. Thank you very much. I looked on salary.com a little further. I tried searching all IT jobs and found several that fit the description of what I do, all of which have very favorable salary ranges.

Sounds like a "Business Analyst" position. I do pretty much the same exact thing.

Cool. Thanks. I'll look into that job title too.

You didnt mention which state and city..
As you salary totally depends on ur location.
For example your job would be worth around $55k in San Francisco, CA but only about $35 in Macon, GA.
So it all depends on your company size, your total years in exp, and your location.

Good luck..
