I've been reading these posts and always said that i would join! Well here I am and need some advise.

Has anyone installed the app server appliance on linux and been able to have message playback via the web browser. Any version.

On all my installs 4 now total I've had no issues but the fact that I can't get messages to play back on the pc.

The error message that i get states that the voicemail web service has not been configured. Please change to phone mode and listen to message. "that's not exactly what it said but if someone has seen this i would greatly appreciate some assistance.

Also, get ssh on machine and:

- Check if apache is running
# service httpd status

- Check Port that is configured in VmPro
/etc/vmpro_settings.ini check what VmProIISPort=? (i have it at 8000)

- Check that you can connect to it:

- VoiceMail Pro provider in one-X portal ? (is this via one-X Portal?)

I'm running both version 6.1.22
Checked the ini file and i have 8000 defined as well. The http page comes up with Apache 2 test page not avaya ums page?

[root@onex ~]# ls -l /var/total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 8 06:25 coredumps
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 8 09:19 logs
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Mar 4 18:13 NamesGreetings -> /opt/vmpro//Names
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Mar 4 18:13 PersonalGreetings -> /opt/vmpro//Greetings
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Mar 4 18:13 VoicemailAccounts -> /opt/vmpro//Accounts
[root@onex ~]# service httpd status
httpd (pid 4949) is running...

I know this has to be a configuration issue but don't know if it's something that i have to do that's not documented.

are you trying from one-X portal?

if so, try configuring the VmPro Provider

http://[IPADDR]:8080/inyama/inyama.html?admin=true#AdminConfigurationProviders

Look at VoiceMailServerAssigned button

Should it be the IP address or the loopback address of the application server?

I currently have the ip address of the server in that box.

Do you have sound enabled?
You can turn it on on the configure page.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yep I have the sound enabled. I have a ticket open and I'm escalating it to Avaya. Wish me luck!

Do you in fact have message playback working on One X via the browser?

Read you release note
UMS Web Services are not available on the Linux Apps Server!

(I started working on something myself but other comitments have taken priority)

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

IPGuru is right.
I thuoght about it last night.
It is a part of the UMS web services.
I tried it today and the only option is the phone.

We had a similar issue. Another thing to check is to ensure that the server that Voicemail Pro/OneX is running has its ip address properly registered in your Active Directory DNS.

To test without changing active directory, adjust your host file on a workstation running OneX. Add a record like below:

192.168.1.1.YourDomain.local
(Reboot your workstation to force this change, or manually force this before accessing OneX again)

FYI, we have it now that we can play messages in the browser but cannot play the messages on the phone using OneX as the controller.

I've registered to to the Domain that we have tested this on.

We have not edited the file to have ip.domain.local

Is this all you had to do to make the message playback on browser function?

Seems easy.

I do understand that UMS is not on the release of 6.1 as well.

Thanks to all for the advise i should have read the GA notes.

ipcodmin1 - not sure if you found that if you enter the extension as a trusted source (Vxxx), it will play throught the phone.

Did this ever get working? We have a few that will not play through the browser. It just shows the message address at the browser bottom but looks like it stalls.

6.1, ie8, VMail and OneX separate servers not on domain.

myalias09:

Yeah we could always play the messages through the phone.
You won't be able to play the message back as of still through PC because it's not supported on the Application Server.

Just a quick question, do you have any issues with your installs using App Server? Every install that we have done using it, will have the service stop and start periodically! Avaya said that they don't have any issues with it though?

Just curious.

AMD proccessor?

BAZINGA!

I actuall spoke to Avaya Tier 3 actually stated that they would only support 2 machines.
They are the Dell and the HP servers that are on the one GA notes.
Not listed as requirements or such.

We've tried those and they provide the same results.
The vm service will suddenly stop and restart, sometimes customers will catch it in the act and other not.
Sometimes it will also appear in SSA as a link failure.

Very Strange just wondering if anyone else has experienced?

Sorry guys - created a new thread since it did not relate to the App Server.
Phone Farmer - Havent dealt with the App server in production.
tlpeter - Do they still make those? - It's Pentium dual.
-Have a case up T4. But I've seen this and got past it a while back, just cant remember what actually fixed it.

Ofcourse they still do :)
Intel and AMD are the only two players in the market.
I have heard about issues with AMD proccessors so that is why i asked.
I have seen the service stop and start once in a while but only on a virtual machine.
