Just wondering if anyone fancies taking a stab at it

Thanks for your patience strongm, the older I get the harder it is for me to learn new things, but I like to learn, and I get your point.

While searching on this subject I found 'imperium' was also an English word, albeit old.
MSN Encarta

1. supreme power: supreme or imperial power ( formal )

2. empire: an area controlled by a supreme power ( formal or literary )

3. law legal right to command: the use of the power of the state to enforce the law

I can see 'imperium' meaning empire isn't Latin but English, or am I wrong again?

So is there anyway of pulling together somethign which would comes across as a empire ?

Whole thing i want from this is , Is a kind of unity.

Say in the Roman Army teamed up with the Macedonia , Thessalains and Gauls to take on the Greeks.

The general would be standing in front of the mix of troops , and say the above.

Though they are all fighting against the same enemy, they all have their own reasons for doing it, general knows this so instead of giving a inspirational speech specifically he wants to cover all basis to unite the men. so i guess the last line should should be Respect All Gods,

I think Imperium would probably fit this bill, as I said in my 'laissez-faire' post. It may not be classical Latin but in this day and age who's going to know (erm ... apart from everyone in this thread, obviously)?

Chance, the Romans were fairly inclusive about other peoples' gods, frequently adopting them or accepting them as another aspect of a Roman god. "Worship the Gods" would probably have been seen as including all gods.

I'm not offering a translation, I managed to fail Latin O level twice - with a grade H!

In my school system the available grades were A, B, C, D and F. There was no "Grade H."

I wish there had been - I never would have heard it!

Oh, there was when I did it - grades were A,C,D,F and H - F was a fail, H meant a failure of epic proportions. I'm quite proud to have managed that twice!

A Convoluted story to follow:

10th grade: I took Biology and did really well with the subject. I ended the term with a grade of 100%. Cool beans.

At the end of term awards ceremony, they called out the winners of various subject matters. I thought they said
"Murphy," which sounds like my name but isn't. I wasn't about to go on stage only to find out I hadn't won. Too embarassing.

Later, they mailed the certificate to me.

BTW - the first class I failed in College was Biology. As it turns out, you can't cram the night before an exam when the words are eight feet long. Damn.
