I've had my share of odd problems recently. The latest is a cics/flash2 (versions unknown at this time). When you call into this site FROM this site you get an intense feedback sound. Only happens when you call into this site FROM this site. Recycled power to the system and the trouble cleared but then returned again within a day or two. Any one seen/heard of this before???

How close are you to the CO. I have seen this when I put systems in the CO. The fix was a capactor across the T&R. Or you can put a 100-Ohm 1 watt resistor in series with the T&R(one on each side) I had one CO that was sending 52 volts (within parameters for Verizon) but too hot for the CICS. It actualy burned out two trunk cards. Good luck...

We've had a flurry of global CLID trunk cards getting blown up in Windstream's service area in N. Georgia. More than one of our customers measured almost 60v on the lines, but Windstream would do nothing. Adding the resistors is also what our customers did to resolve the problem.

I've been having the same problem with CO lines burning out line cards. They seem to last about a week or two then the problem shows up as low sending and receiving volume. AT&T tested the voltage on the lines and they are all showing 52 volts. What are the limits of the line cards on voltage? I will try that resistor tip. Thanks.

One good tip I picked up- as techs, we are used to considering voltage only. Amperage is the other side of the equation, and is often overlooked by co techs.

Mike the Sandman has voltage and amp regulators online for problem sites. They've worked for me on a few sites in the past.

Ahh, current I'm going to have to go onsite and check that out. Thanks for all the help this has been like chasing a ghost!

I just checked the amps on site and all 4 lines are showing 24ma. maybe it is a intermittent problem coming from the CO?

That's definitely possible. It only takes one spike to burn equipment.

Mike the Sandman has both limiters, and regulators. The regulators are a little more pricy, but it sounds like that might fix your problem.
