Another IP Office VM to Email Issue 1

Hi everyone,
I have tried to do as much research as but I still can't get VM to email working again.

IPO 11.0.0.0, I was using SocketLabs for years and everything worked great until the end of September. I have rebooted, changed the SMTP settings to every combination I can think of.
I never had a DNS entered and it defaulted to google, 8.8.8.8. Thinking that was the issue I changed the DNS to my local router. I have a IP route 192.168.14.0, 255.255.255.0 - 192.168.43.225.

I find it odd it takes 2-3 tries before the DNS resolves.

I have used SMTP Diagnostics on my PC to test the various ports and configuration and everything works as it should using that info. Also tried it with the IP address the IPO resolves to and it works fine. I even tried another relay service which resulted in the same problem. I don't know what else to try. I am working to get 11.1 installed due to an issue where our call groups disappear when merging a configuration. That has been going on for months so I don't think that is what is causing the VM issue. Thanks again for any ideas.

Now that it is after hours I was able to try a few more things:

Created a Gmail account and followed the instructions dagwoodsystems posted...No luck

Deleted all SMTP settings, rebooted and added socketlabs.com back...nothing.

From the file manager I deleted all the VM files, rebooted...nothing

I changed some settings in the monitor and have a bit more detials. I am still at a loss.

The trace is a bit hairy to parse, but so much of it looks right to me: Init, resolve DNS, send and snooze.

Hopefully you chose Copy rather than Forward, so there is evidence that a voicemail was actually recorded. I know...that's a cheap answer. A better one would be to make absolutely sure that you're using the correct Port Number.

I also find the resolve retries very odd. Does this mean that voicemail-to-email works intermittently or still just not at all?

I'm glad you tried my cheater because I have had to revisit several of our old IPOs (going back to 9.1) and have been able to get them to play really well with Gmail. I wrote the steps and then followed them myself before posting. I don't think I missed anything.

I also tried the new Gmail 2Step verification procedure and could not get it to work either.

It had worked great for two years without issue. Once it quit around 9/30 it hasn't worked since.

I did have everyone set to forward and not copy. It records the message because when it doesn't send it seems to be smart enough to store the message the traditional way. Which plays back on the phone fine.

I am thinking it is some sort of corruption in that portion of the system. I am thinking about changing the type of VM then switching back to essentials.

Since I am working to get it updated to 11.1 that might be the ultimate fix.
