Ok I've got my ip500v2 rel 6.0 (18) w/embedded vm up and running however people are complaining it takes too long for an outbound call to go through. We have analog loop start trunks set for ICLID even though we don't have caller id. How can I shorten the setup time it takes for a call to be made? Would reducing the Await Dialtone time from 3000ms to something less help? If so how much less would be recommended.

Thanks in advance.

Jerry

ICLD would only affect inbound calls (it should still be disabled if it is not being received to speed up the processing of inbound calls).

Where are you & what are your short-codes for out dialling?
these vary from country to country and can make a difference.

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

USA....Dial 9 through ars table using default short codes. I just noticed the feature used is Dial 3k1

example 1N; 1N Dial 3K1 1 Would changing the feature from Dial 3k1 to just Dial help?

One of the people complaining has 2 personal dial 9 short code to dial internationally 90N; 0N Dial as well as dial to zero 90; 0 Dail 1. ARS tbl has those calls barred.

Edit..the personal sc for international dialing is

9011N; 011N Dial 1

the ; on the end of the short code forces the IPO to wait for the Dialing Timeout to expire because ISDN in the USA requires numbr to be dialed En-Block (usualy 3 seconds).

if you have only analog liines you could adopt the european option.
set dial delay count to something greate than the ineternal digit length, 6 or 7 would probably be best for you & delete the ; from the short code

sc=90N
tn=0n
feature Dial

or even
sc: ?
tn .
feature dial
this would remove the dead to dial 9 for outside calls :)

I forgot to add you should also decrease the dial delay time otherwise you will have a long wait for internal calls

@ IPGuru

Have an IPO, that when you hang up, it takes a couple of minutes to recieve a new call..
If u call before that, u get an awful message...
Anyone ?

It sounds like a problem with the disconnect clear settings
check your trunks match what the provider is providing

if possible make sure they are sending a disconnect clear pulse & you have it enabled on your trunks

Thanks IPGuru...the Dial Delay Time is set to the default 4sec and the Dial Delay Count is set to the default 0

So your saying to increase the delay count to a number greater than 3 (ext length) and decrease the time to??
