Hi all
This is my first post here so please forgive if any of this question is obvious.
(FYI I'm primarily a programmer in our small business so not a telecoms engineer but have been learning about our IP Office system to be able to configure it as necessary. We are located in Spain if that's necessary for any locale-specific settings.)
We have an IP Office 500 V2 system (firmware 6.1 (5)) with two expansion modules:
- External expansion module with 16 analog ports (ANALOG POTS16+)
- internal IP500 Combination Card w/4 Analog Trunks (700476013)
The problem is with the combo card, we have a single analog trunk line from our telecoms provider connected to port 9 but it is not working. Incoming calls to that line receive a message that the line is busy. The call doesn't even get as far as the switchboard, it is as if the two copper wires of the trunk line are connected. If I disconnect the trunk line from the switchboard and connect a standard analog phone it works normally, I get a dialling tone and can receive incoming calls. If I connect the the analog phone and then at the same time connect the switchboard using an adaptor, the phone immediately loses the dialing tone as soon as the switchboard is connected, again as if it is shorting the two copper wires of the trunk line.
On the combo card, apart from port 9, the only other ports in use are 1-4 (for 4 digital phones) and ports 7-8 (two analog phones).
I have tried connecting the analog trunk to port 11 on the combo card and it appears to work correctly. Does this sound like a problem with the combo card? The card is only 13 months old (i.e. just out of warranty) but I'm not sure if this could be a hardware issue or configuration.
Many thanks,
Andy
