Currently on 3.1 with 8720's upgrading to 5.2. We also have an old Center Stage Switch with dual connectivity to campus EPN's via IPSI and Packet Interface boards. Initial meeting with vendor they told us that the remote EPN's need a T1 for a sync source for analog modem and fax lines. 5.2 does not support Packet Interface and all campus EPN's will use IPSI connectivity only. All T1's are located in our main bldg. We have no T1's in remote EPN's that could be used as a sync source. Vendor stated that codecs are not robust enough to support analog over IPSI. Has anyone ran into this? thanks

packet interface boards"? Do you mean SNI/EI baords via fiber? Are they saying 5.2 does not support fiber connected PN's?

The TN1655 Packet Interface board was part of the SPE in a G3R. That would have gone away with the rest if the SPE when you got the S8700's.

Correct - I meant Expansion Interface boards are not supported. Mainly, I am concerned with the vendor stating that any remote EPN on campus should have a T1 for sync source for any analog line. They say that the IPSI's do not do a great job supporting analog

You could run point to point T1's between the cabinets. You wouldn't actually put calls on these spans, they would just be used for synchronization for the remote EPN's.

Rock on, be strong... SG
APDS UC, APDS CC, ACE IP Telephony

you might have problems with isdn vtc lines also without a syn source
