Hi all,

I buy expansion analog trunk and want to connect it to IPO Control unit release 9.1(20) but the expansion not seen by IPO on manager and system status.

1 turn on expansion first with 5 minutes after that turn on IPO control Unit.
when i see the message by DTE and system status on expansion analog trunk, here the picture

Please help me, why IPO can not see analog expansion trunk.
default condition is cable connected and device are turn on.

Please help me how to fix it.
thanks,

Depends on what you've bought and if you have the right licences.

I'd check with your Avaya Business Partner Supplier/Maintainer and make sure.

I was going to ask that you confirm your release because 9.1(20) does not exist but looking at your system status screenshot it is 9.1(2). Consider upgrading your system as that is an old release of 9.1 current service pack is 11 and you are on 2.

What is the light doing on the front of the expansion module?
Are you using a 1 meter long shielded cable to connect the expansion?
Are you plugged into one of the expansion ports on the back of the control unit?
Have you tried multiple expansion ports on the back of your control unit?

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Hi critchey,

here my answer:
What is the light doing on the front of the expansion module? countinues green blinking with 1s of duration
Are you using a 1 meter long shielded cable to connect the expansion? no, i used other cable with standart cat5e, the cable working properly on other device
Are you plugged into one of the expansion ports on the back of the control unit ? yes, port 5
Have you tried multiple expansion ports on the back of your control unit? yes but no luck

here is history,
we bought new control unit, combo card and analog expansion trunk. from vendor information, the combo card and expansion are new model (firmware release) so when we insert sdcard with version 6.0(18) the combo card and expansion are not detected.
so the the solution are upgrade sdcard version.

then we recreate the sdcard using IPO Manager 9.1.2.0 (91).
when we insert sdcard to the contol unit, the combo card are detected and system running well but only expansion are not detected.

If you are not using the cable supplied with the expansion module then please just go away. You MUST use the cable supplied by Avaya in the box with the external expansion module. Examples where external expansion modules work with just any cable that was lying around are purely luck.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Propably a BASIC mode system.
I will not give any advise as he has no idea what he is doing except searching help for free instead of call and pay a good BP.

Yes you MUST use a 1 meter long shielded cable. The fact that the cable worked for another module is pure luck as already stated.

Why did you start with R6.0(18)? Why did you upgrade to R9.1.2? Neither of those are the highest release available. You are asking for trouble both using the wrong cable and using outdated releases.

I agree you should get competent help maintaining your system.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Hi critchey,

on our existing control unit use version 6.0(18) so we need to upgrade these to version 9.1 to use new expansion analog trunk, because it not detected on 6.0(18). and according to expansion release it must be on version 8.1 to use this expansion.
we upgrade to 9.1.0.2 because only this version we had used before and no issue on that.

I ever install many control unit with 7 expansion and not use blue cable form avaya because it place on different rack so it need more than 1 meters distance. it run well until now. there is not problem on that.

I already try to make offline config and insert expansion module on that then send offline config to IPO.
set tftp server active on manager and set bin directory on bin place.
when i open using DTE on analog trunk expansion, it only show
"error"
"26353ms hello>"

to IPOLackey
yes we have that license.
see this picture for all licence.

any help will be appreciate,
thanks

You MUST use a FTP cable with a absolute max length of 1 meter.
It doesn't have to be a blue one but it would help.
In this particular case I strongly suggest to use the original cable until it is working and has loaded the correct versio,
Then you ca nchange the cable at own risk, I would never do that but it is your customer and his confidence in you which you put at risk.

please go and find yourself a COMPETENT maintainer.

you are making fundamental errors &just making things worse for yourself
the time you have lost trying to do this yourself has already cost you more than getting the job done properly.

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Did you check the licences in System Status?

If it shows Small System Software Upgrade any expansion modules will not work!

I ever install many control unit with 7 expansion and not use blue cable form avaya because it place on different rack so it need more than 1 meters distance. it run well until now. there is not problem on that."- Yes there is a problem on that. You'll get no support from Avaya for a start and little sympathy here if you have connection problems (which you have). Stop being a moron and use the blue cable as Intrigrant advise until you get it working.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Again, just because you did it before does not mean that that is not the cause of the issue here. I have heard of people getting modules to work for months even a year once and then stop working. If you are unwilling to use the proper cable then you will not get any further help(here or with Avaya) as you are ignoring the most fundamental step in using expansion modules.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

@jhon88 you can not upgrade from 6 0 (18) to 9.1 as you have to do this in stage upgrades, you need to look at the release notes on what releases to go to to get from 6 0m 18 to 9.1, also if you have never done this then I would bring in someone who has.
