Trying to install Aloha 6.7.34 on MS Windows 7 Pro SP1 32bit and I keep getting this error "This setup requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 v8.0.50727.6195. Please install the redistributable and run this setup again." I have installed all kind of different versions of Visual C++ but still can't get it to work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You will need to uninstall all versions of C++ then re-install using the C++ version on the Aloha install disk.

Thanks for your reply Coorsman. I tried that 1 million times before posting this. The weird thing is, for some reason when I go to Control Panel and Programs to view the version it reads a higher version. I figured it was getting upgraded somehow so I unplugged my Internet then installed and the same thing happened. It still upgraded the version. This is installing the version that's on the disc and finding some on the Internet and installing those.

Thanks for the link, bur it doesnt take me to a specific download.

cut and pasted the link and got the link to work. that version installs as 8.0.56336. It produces the same error.

This document refers to the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update that is used in Aloha POS versions 6.9 and lower.

Aloha POS versions 6.4 through 6.9 are compiled using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

The VC++ Redistributable is used on the Back-of-House (BOH) file server, and it is also used on the Front-of-House (FOH) terminals only if fingerprint scanning is enabled.

Aloha versions 6.4.15 and higher require the latest VC++ Redistributable.

If you are using Aloha versions 6.4 through 6.9, then you must install the new VC++ Redistributable. For 6.4 versions prior to 6.4.15, it is required in order to maintain your PCI compliance. For versions 6.4 through 6.9, it is required for compliance and also to enable Aloha POS functionality. If you upgrade to Aloha version 6.4 through 6.9 and you do not apply the new VC++ Redistributable, then Aloha will not function and you will receive the following error:

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.

The error will not display once you install the new vcredist_86.exe. A reboot is not required.

You can obtain the new version of VC++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable from Microsoft.

The Aloha Update patch only updates Aloha binary files. Aloha Update will perform prerequisite checking for the newer version of the VC++ Redistributable. If the newer version is not found, then the Aloha Update patch will exit until the minimum requirements have been met. You would then need to obtain the VC++ Redistributable and install it, as mentioned above.

This is some documentation I found on the Aloha Web site.

Also a better link:

Will the install continue to install after bypassing the error?

Wondering if it has something to do with the SP1? It's like the application doesn't recognize that the redistributable has already been installed.

Thanks Coorsman for your continued help. Unfortunately, that did not work either.

Do you have an earlier version you can try to install?

SOLVED! Finally. I installed the vcredist_x86.exe from the CD root. The reason for my error was I was clicking on the AlohaInstall.msi. Once I ran the AlohaBootStrapper.exe and selected TableService, I got no errors. Hope this helps someone and saves you time.
