Allow 9508 to only Page

We have an Avaya IP Office v2 rls 11 and would like to place a 9508 phone outside in the lobby to be used only to page a set of employees inside, mainly for delivery people to let us know they're out front. I don't want this phone to be able to make or receive calls or allow anyone to access features, I guess. I've already created a Hunt group with the 3 employees and set up a button to page the hunt group, which is working fine. But I can still make calls out. I also set the extension number to one we don't actually own so there's no incoming call route to it. I tried to take the appearance buttons out and just have the paging button but I got the Button features invalid error on the phone. Can anyone let me know if this is possible?

Hot-Line Dialing:

A user short code ?D can be used to perform a short code action immediately the user extension goes off-hook. This is supported with Dial type short code features. Typically it is used with door, lift and lobby phones to immediately connect the phone to a number such as the operator or reception.

User | Telephony | TUI | Everything off.
User | Short Codes | ?D as suggested. Also ? set to Barred for any other dialing.

But ultimately a 9508 is what used to be called a "Feature Phone" so its difficult to make it totally dumb. They are plenty of more basic phones in the world including phones with no display and dial pad. Admittedly that would require an analog extension port or even IP.

Is there a "dumb" phone I can buy that will do just that? Like pressing the speaker button and it just pages the hunt group?

Just Google no dial pad phone and take your pick. Some can be pre-programmed to dial a particular number. Others just go off-hook which is where the user ?D short code would kick in. Take your pick and find one that suits.

This is what we typically use for ring down type door entry phones. You can also get a weather proof version the EWP-30.

Okay I've decided to go with the 9508 on a wall mount in the lobby. After setting the short code in the user profile to ?D to Dial my extension, I pick up the phone and it says right away "We're sorry, your call can not be completed as dialed".

Did you use Dial or Dial Direct?
