Hi,
I hope someone can help. I would appreciate any suggestions.
The network consists of 6 Workstations running on XP Professional, and a file/print server running on Windows 2000 Server.
After figuring out the worm infected the computers, all of them were cleaned with Symantec's utility and applied with the patch from MS.
Same thing was done for the Windows 2000 Server.
As I mentioned above, the server is solely used for using shared directories and printing.
Problems from the XP Pro Workstations:
These pc's can access the Internet without any problems, however accessing other PC's on the network - although they are shared- are not possible, including the server listed below.
Problems from the Windows 2000 Server:
First of all, the machine is installed with Service Pack 2. I believe I need to install Service Pack 4?. If so, will it resolve the problems listed below?
1. The server cannot access any other computers on the local network.
2. The server cannot access any websites on the internet.
3. Even though the computer pings other computers on the local network or the internet fine, it cannot ping them with the names (such as or user1).
I believe there are problems with DNS configuration and etc...
I do not have enough knowledge on this problem, although it sounds it can be sorted out easily since it recognizes IP numbers.
Thank you very much for all your suggestions.
Atakan.
