adding SLMR3 board in 9006.5 30EX

Added a SLMR3 board in 9006.5 30EX using the add-bcsu in RMX. The Board always shows up in BSSU:tbl as "DEFECT". This system has never been configured with this type of board in it before. It has always used SLMO's for the optisets. Need a SLMR to emulate a RP400 for a DuVoice Voicemail intergration. I think my problem has something to do with the firmware when loading the card. Does anyone have an idea what the command is to rectify this issue?

Well, there's a couple of possibilities... In addition to DEF, when you look at the BCSU table do you see WBT somewhere on that line? That means you entered the board part number wrong.

Since I can't see your switch, the next place I'll go is wondering if you have any remote shelves, an ACD server or things along those lines. Maybe the slot you have tried to provision the board in is out of service for some specific reason. I know when an ACD server (internal) is installed there are a few slots to the right of it that have to remain vacant - probably a quarter shelf but I haven't paid attention to it. Remote shelves also block out slots in the main cabinet so they can be emulated remotely - cards you plug in those slots will be ignored or cause conflicts with their cohorts at the remote end. There may be other situations where certain cards require more empty real estate.

Next we move to the DIMEN table... DIS-DIMEN:CC; The allocated value (licenses) for RP120/240/400/etc must be non-zero. If your system was never configured for RPs those numbers may be zero, and may be a contributing factor. I don't see anything else in there that could affect you being able to install the card.

Have you ruled out the possibility you have a bad board??

If you are using Adapter1 or Adapter2 (backplane type adapters) have you verified it's installed correctly?

Not trying to be rude, but did you activate the board with BSSU?

Maybe something in all that helps....

Thanks for the reply.

I added a SLMR Board Type "Q2450-X" which is one of the older 16 channel boards and It came up and loaded. I then created couple of RP400's and made some calls between the two. Deleted everything including the Q2450-X and removed from the PBX. Performed my updat's. Re confonfigured the same slot with SLMR3 Board Type "Q2473-X". The board starts its load. While its loading I look at the BCSU:tbl and it shows that the Actual Board matches the configured board and the "LoadWare Version = 2" ; FID = 0, and then instead of coming active, it ends up in DEFECT. Here is what it displays while trying to load:

Pretty wierd. I remembered when I worked for Siemens that if a Board was used and had Firmware or Loadware loaded from another system it may not work in a different system. I faintly remember someone saying that, but thought it had to do with SLMO boards.

One additional try: I just configured an SLMR2 Q2472-x into the same slot. It loaded. I just verified that this system is running 9006.4 / SMR3 / PP"R". Could be that this release will not support the SLMR3, however I does support the 24 channel SLMO Q2158-X's as I have two of these running. Pretty stange, and maybe utilizing a 24 port card will not be an option for me. May just put (2) 16 channel SLMR2's in.

No, I believe your system may not support the 16-channel boards.

While it is possible to have 16-channel boards in 9006.4 and 9006.5 (because I have had it due to an upgrade) I believe the system has to be set up special to handle it. I just upgraded my 30EX 9006.5 system into a model 80EP 9006.5 system I bought used from someone and when they did the migration they told me they couldn't use the 16 channel boards because it would cause issues. Normally I would write this off as hype because they were trying to sell me more stuff, but I provided all my own boards for the replacement, so they could care less. I do know that when I upgraded that system from 9006.2 to 9006.5 they changed out the second cabinet and put new cards in it but all the 16 channels stuff was kept together in the first cabinet.

Whether the above is true or not you can see from the information the system is giving you that you have the slot set up for the Q2473 card but it is not seeing it when you plug it in, so that means either that card is bad or the loadware level for that system will not recognize the 16 channel card.

Thank You again for your input. This system does support the 16 channel SLMR and the 16 channel SLMR2 cards. I configured each of these and designed RP400's on them and was able to make calls through them.
The SLMR3 (24 channel Card) never gets a full load weather its Firmware or Loadware issue, I'm not sure. 9006.4 must not support these cards. Not sure why not, because I do have (3) 24 Port SLMO cards up and running.

I thought maybe there was a command I could run to get this card to load the Loadware / Firmware.

Not sure if you've fixed your problem - I had the same issue a few years back. Problem is due to the patch package release you are running. It has been resolved in the latest EIP patch package - see attached text from the EIP:

It sounds like the patch package was the issue, but I wanted to add I believe the command to load the loadware/firmare is CHA-FUNSU, and I believe TYPE = PIT.
