The existing scn already has a site with vmpro and the rest centralized

The site to be added has its own vm pro which they would like to keep

I read the docs and it says to change the vm type in that site to distributed vm and point it to the vm server

My question is when I change it to distributed vm is it going to effect the current config of the vm or will everything remain the same

If you change this site to distributed then the current VM Pro is working as per normal except any vm messages left will be moved from the local VM to the central VM.
Call Flows and queue messages are used from the local VM server.
You need to setup SMTP messaging between both VM Pro servers.

Intrigrant is right although i wanted to do this on a four site SCN on 8.0 but it did not work.
I then just installed them as four sites with there own VMPro.

But distributed is the way to go.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

What do you mean it didn't work!? Lol

Giving me a heart attack

He meant "I could not get it to work" which doesn't surprise me......[gorgeous]

If anyone has a working SCN configuration with at least one reliably-working distributed voicemail server running a recent version, please let us know the complete versions of firmware/software for the IPO and preferred voicemail.

I know I tried it several times with 7.0 and 8.0 versions but the distributed server would work for a while, then no longer work correctly. (Messages would start getting stored on the distributed server, with no way to retrieve them. Even after restarting the servers the messages on the distributed server never appeared anywhere that could be accessed in the mailbox. There never seemed to be an issue with SMTP.)

Like tlpeter, I gave up and used a VM server at each site. But it is a pain when users hot desk, and have to check multiple servers for messages....

Thanks.

:) Intrigrant knows me personally and i seem to break stuff once in a while :)

But in this case it is a bug in 8.0 where it just doesn't work.
For 8,1 it seems to be fine although i only have it running on our server edition (primary and secondary server)

The sites are all at 8.0

Has this been fixed? Does avaya know of it?

I don't know if they know it but i did not raise a case for it.
Too much hassle and it needed to run the next day.

Tipeter-

Did you end up running multiple vm pro servers on the 1 scn?

It is a four site SCN with all four there own VMPro.
I am aware that it is not supported and the customer knows it too.

I have the same in a mix of 7.0 and 8.0 without problems as long as they do not use hotdesking across the SCN.
A problem occurs if a call comes in on site A , rings a extension on site A and when not answeed it rings a phone on site B and it doesnt answer as well then the call goes to the VM on site B who doesn't know the user of site A so the caller is asked to enter a voicemail number.

of course , today is not my avaya day

the whole point is so they can hot desk across the scn
