Hi all -

I have an old Option 81 on Rel 19 that has been chugging along since 94 with about 4500 active ports. We are starting a VOIP venture but need QSIG to make things nicer communicating to the VOIP CM.

We have a "new" core we are planning to replace our existing core with that is on Rel 4.5 with QSIG, the problem is it is only Licensed for 1100 analog and we need about 1500-1600 analog after we dump about 1800 existing analog no longer used.

Is it possible without upgrading the release to get us the additional ports licensed without a huge expense?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You are 1/2 a release late. If you have at least 5.0 you can increase your ISM limits as of today with the e-Authorization process put inot place by Avaya. Prior to that you are out of luck.

If you have the software and license for the 4.5 / QSIG why don't you just bring that up in 61/81 mode no users, and just have trunks? You can have trunks to your other switch, and still have your analog lines and then ties to the Cisco.

Essentially your "new" core switch will be just a tandem between the cisco and your existing.

Could you elaborate on your recommendation a little bit more? I know enough to be dangerous....sorry.

So we have 3 PRI / T1 feed existing switch. Those would move to the new core and then old switch would tie into that? The call manager would tie to the new core also with two T1 to its voice gateway.

Would we then be able to see CPND and 4 digit dial the old numbers from the new VOIP CM in this configuration and Vice-versa?

Thanks for your help!
