My customer purchased a second T7406 handset to work with his base set. I hooked up an available DN, but can't get the second handset to be recognized. I did assign it as handset 2. Any suggestions?

Well you only need to send the SS code from Handset 1, suggest to do the same with your new handset as a test.
From there is will tell you handset or digital signal or base issue.

Tried to send SS Code from new phone, just to check. The phone swaps with the first phone. The first phone goes off line, Scanning. The new phone works. This is the older T7406. Do both handsets need to have the same SS Code programmed into them?

Ok so that proves the handset is fine.
You need to check to make sure you have a 2nd digital signal from the phone system to the base station and plugged into slot 2.
Then take the other handet and only make the Hanset ID #2, do not send the ss code again as this only needs to be done from Handset #1.
