I have been having a lot of problems with faxing over an outbound circuit, we have decided that we can change the protocol for the fax line (in the voip router)but i need a way to tell our VOIP router that just the fax needs te be sent out differently. first off can i add an identifier at the front of the called number that will allow the router to recognize it or would it be better to just dedicate 1 channel on the circuit to the fax.

i would decidate a line for that fax, several ways to route all calls from a station to a predetermined route/trunk

Thanks John, and of course i am going to ask how i would go about dedicating my fax to a single channel on the circuit

out the trunk.. ld 14.. add a new rlb, ld 16.. all the same promts except acod.. x1 on targ.. then add the trunk. instead of dialing 9 either build a pretranslation table for the fax that dials the acod instead of 9 for the 1st digit.. or hot d the station to the acod.. (slower dialing) or have the fax dial the acod instead of 9..

or (my choice) if you have a tgar that is not used... one step.. at the targ prompt enter 1 2 3 4 5 6, make the fax tgar 7 (if 7 is not on any other station) then add a new enter 0 to the rlb with your single route in it.. it will have to be 0, so you need to move the other entries down.. IF you are not using ncos 7 you can do the same thing with ncos instead of targ/tgar.. entry 0 has frl 7, IF the only station with ncos 7 are fax machines then all other calls step over entry 0.. if you add more faxes you can add trunks as needed for outbound..

another possible solution and one that needs to be tested.. class faxa..

if you are using pretranslation, that is the fastest.. table 4 could be 1 =acod 1 2= acod 2 etc then apply that table to just that fax..
