Hello!

I have remote access to a PBX system. They want me to provide support to an Audix system for the PBX. the problem is, they don't know the dial-in number for that system, they think the PBX has a integrated voicemail system.... if I do 'list config all' I can see the switch has 4 TN566 circuit packs, but all ports are empty. So, I am pretty sure they must have a separated system for voicemail.. I mean an Audix voicemail system... however what about the (RESERVED-AUDIX D16 TN566 circuit packs)?, is there a way from the switch to access a voicemail system?,.... any idea or advise?...

Thanks in advance!

You need to set up an external modem on port B of the octopus cable which will have an amphenol connection on the backplane of the G3si with 2 RS232 connections coming off of it. Port A is used to connect to the 715 terminal. So if slot 16 houses the TN566 in the switch then the cable will be on slot 16 when you look at the back of the switch.

You can use a U.S. Robotics 33.6 fax modem and make sure that dip switch settings are set to be 3,5,8 are turned on. They may be turned off but those three need to be set opposite of the rest of the dip switches on the modem. There is not a need for a null modem for the fax to connect to the RS232 cable. Maybe a gender changer though.

What are you trying to accomplish by accessing this unit?

meneerB had a good idea. On our system, while the PBX has an analog line from the carrier, Voicemail uses an analog line on the PBX. Looking for a station identified as Audix or Voicemail may be the answer.

Thank you so much for your valuable help. I will try what you are recommending.

Thanks again!

By the way:

our TN568 has one connector with 5 cables:
1, 2, 3, lan and alarm
3 has a modem connected to it.
I don't know better to dial in to the audix.
But why not use 2 for a direct serial connection, or better: lan?

Possible?

Audix: Software Vintage : Release 4.0, Issue
Definity: Software Load: G3V8i.04.1.060.0

I don't think you can configure the LAN port unless you can connect to the Audix in the first place.
I'm not 100% certain, but I also think the LAN port is for integration only, not admin.

Can I connect a free serial port to my mgt pc?
(I know, I could also try this myself;-)

Hello,

Ok, I am finaly in the site where this G3si/Audix is installed.

This is how this work.. the G3si has an audix system but not in a separed box but in the same carrier with the MULTI-FUNTION TN566 circuit. So, I can login into the G3si and from the terminal... I can press ALT+F3 key then I can change from the windows to the switch to the windows for the audix... so, is there a way to do that from the ASA?... is a 'default emulator' I could use with ASA to be able to do the same as I am able to do from the terminal connected to the G3si?... can somebody help me with this?...

Thanks in advance!!!

You need a modem break-out box between the 715 management terminal and the pbx/audix, or a separate modem on the audix octopus backplane connector.
In the UK we use a device called a Tracker. The local terminal then logs into the Tracker in the same way as an external modem does.
