I have a table that uses and Autonumber field, it has worked fine for years. Suddenly, when I add a new record, through a form or through the database view I get a funny "hex-type" number in the field. Can anyone tell me why and how to fix it?
Thanks.

Dear Bird,

I think that the same thing happened to me a couple years back, but with a different version of access.

If the problem is the same, then your database may becoming corrupt or it is corrupt.

Do what I suggest below, ASAP!

1) Get everyone off database ASAP!!
2) Make a Backup immediately!
3) Compact and repair database.
4) If you have linked tables:
a) Do steps 1 to 3 on both frontend and backend
b) Refresh all links.
5) Save the Backup for a while (Just in case)

Hope This Helps,

It could be your cloumn is not wide enough.
Try widening the column containing the autonumber.
Place your cursor on the dividing line between this
column and the adjacent column to the right.
Hold down the left mouse button & drag the column
line to the right.
