Hi Guys

I have a customer that are having issues with their handsets intermittently not showing the call timers when making outbound calls. They are using a mixture of 9620 and 9608 handsets but the issue seem to be only with the 9608 handsets.

I have exhausted all of my ideas on what it could be or how to solve it. Including upgrading the system software,

Any ideas?

usually upgrades to a later version solve weird stuff like that, ensure that the phones are also upgraded.
If you run the latest firmware then a ticket with Avaya has to be put in so that they can fix it.

If it is intermittent then you can also try and see if the problem only occurs with certain numbers being called (cell phone , long distance, toll free...etc) if you can find a pattern then it is easier to fix.

Quite often when you upgrade a system with upgrade wizard it does not bring the IP phones firmware with it. You can see in the phone or in system status what version of firmware the phone is running. Then check the tech-bulletin for your version and see what version it should be running based on your version. My guess is they do not match.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

You can also activate/deactivate the call timers on the handset menu, I always turn them off :)

amriddle - I have yet to see a "show the time intermittently" option [lol]

Users lie and exaggerate, a lot, the option doesn't need to be there for that setting to fix it :)

The longer I do this job the more I am finding myself questioning what people tell me... or flat out think they are lying/exaggerating. I have not even been doing it that long so I can just imagine how those of you that have been doing this for decades feel.

I probably have heard 99% of all lies ever told to a phone guy and told just about as many.
Not that "You are so handsome" would be a lie [tiphat]

Thanks for the pink
