How can I use an IP phone in a remote office and have 911 route to the proper address? Is it possible, or do I need a phone system at that location?

Thanks

At a minimum you would need an SRG if CS1000 based. If not, you need a system at the local site.

You might be able to assign the Set a public OLI and ask the carrier to route 911 to an address specific to the OLI. We have to do this with our customers. We provide hosted VOIP services to local businesses and our CLEC allows us to tag certain OLI's with their respective addresses. Depends on the carrier.

Along the same lines as above, if the sites go to the same psap, you can setup E911 to use the DES of the phone to show the correct address of the phone dialing 911.......
The "proper Nortel" method would be to use an SRG at that site and then you would also have survivability in the event of a WAN failure.

Hope this helps
