If the base unit on a 9031 cordless phone died is the handset useless?

I believe the 9031 phones were permanently assigned to each base. So, yes, if the base died, the phone would be useless. The 9040 phones register to the antenna/base so can be re-used if the base died.

That's what I assumed. Thanks for the feedback.

socalsteve - Will the 3910 work with the old AT&T / Lucent hardware?

Socalsteve...You say the 3910 is better....Does it have the same range that the 9031 has?

I have some 9031's that go at least 700'in distance and thru steel and concrete buildings.

Just curious...

Although it is far from perfect, the discontinued 9040 is probably a better choice than the 3910.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Is the older at&t stuff considered ACS, and will the 3910 work on it?

When you say "older AT&T stuff" do you have a particular system in mind?

The 3910 will work with a Partner extension port or an ETR extension port on a Merlin Magix.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

the 3910 is a much better constructed and functioning phone than the 9000 series in my opinion and you can place the base unit anywhere, unlike the 9000 series where it has to hang on the wall and break every 6 months. press feature 59 on a display phone and if it says ACS Rx.xx then the 3910 will work.
