Hopefully somebody out there has already done what I am trying to do and can help me avoid a potential problem and wasting time.

I am planning to replace a 406 with VoiceMail Pro on 3.2 with a brand new 500 V2 and 8.0, there is still a lot of confusion with my distributor and Avaya about the Voicemail Pro license and if moving the license will require to purchase an essential or upgrade license to be able to go to 8.0 on the new device, has anybody performed this type of upgrade already?
What about the 90 day free upgrade is that still available? What if I first upgrade to 7.0, do I need to purchase the upgrade or essential license to go from 7.0 to 8.0 during the free 90 day upgrade period?

This morning I was thinking about this long thread and what the Avaya ATAC guy was telling me about BP's finding a loop hole to cheat them out of money and it finally clicked, I get it now...the essential edition license is absolutely unnecessary because you can always purchase the less expensive upgrade license for a new system instead...!
I was also trying to think about the type of configuration(s) that will only work with the essential edition license and I cannot find any, the only thing I thought about is that you just have to be careful because if you miss-calculate the system's growth and you purchase an under 32 license and the site then adds a module you are going to have to purchase the over 32 upgrade license, but if you add it all up that still comes under the price of the essential edition license, right?

I have had it confirmed as a bug to me as well & we are now awaiting a Bug fix/ tech bull from Avaya

I hope the fix is a patch to remove the need for the "disable Muppet mode" license & they scrap the whole stupid idea
(bet they just release a PCN stating you can't do it though)

Computers are like Air conditioners:-
Both stop working when you open Windows

It was/is a stupid idea, but the idea allows them to charge more for existing features/hardware and that was something they can never ignore, a bit like IP endpoint licences really :)

Well if they remove the requirement for a license to move Voicemial Pro I just hope they are also going to be prepared to refund me the cost for the upgrade license I purchase for my last install.
