I just put together a new computer with a core2duo, 2gig ram, 500gig hdd, dvd burner etc. and I just put in the last component - a 7600GT, plugged in the monitor and turned it on to set-up the BIOS and then install SuSE and WinXP. On the monitor it reads: "NO VIDEO INPUT". I have no idea what is wrong. When I unplug the monitor it reads "CHECK CONNECTION" and then I plug it back in and it changes to read "NO VIDEO INPUT". My first thought was that the graphics card wasnt seated properly, so I checked that. Next I thought maybe not enough power is getting ot the graphics card, so I unplugged the hdd, DVD drive and the front fan and I still got that message. I've tried it with two different monitors and it's the same on both.

Anyone have any ideas?

When you turn the PC on does it 'beep'? How many times? Do all the system fans run, particularly the one on the CPU? It could be a problem with other components, not necessarily the graphics card.

Also, if the motherboard has video integrated, hook the monitor up to the video port there instead of the graphics card. It might need to be set manually in the BIOS to "disabled" before the video card will work. Most newer motherboards have auto-detection, but it's worth a shot.

You didn't mention it specifically, so I thought that I would ask...does the video card have a separate power connector that needs to be connected? It used to be that your video card could be powered by the AGP/PCI/PCI-E slot, but nowdays they draw so much power that they have a second connector that you plug in (looks like a hard disk or floppy disk power connector).

I have a 7600GT and it doesn't use a secondary power connector. I think it's only the high-end cards which do that.

The PC doesn't beep at all. That was bothering me becasue I thought that a beep was an indication that the POST was successful but a freind told me that's not allways the case. All fans run, HDD spins up, dvd drive can open and close.

MB has no integrated graphics.

Any suggestsions?

I'm starting to think this isn't a graphics card problem but a mb problem...The caps lock, num lock and scroll lock keys don't respond and the mouse never lights up. Is my motherboard stuffed? They keyboard is getting power. I know this because the keys kan light up with blue LEDs and this works.

full specs are: Asus P5B Deluxe MB
Intel E6600
2GB OCZ GOLD DUal channel DDR2 RAM
Seagate 7200.10 500 GB SATA
Sony DVD+/-RW Dual layer
Thermal take 520W 24pin ATX PSU
Gigabyte GeForce 7600GT

Triple-check all the connectors that attach from the front of your case to the motherboard.

Usually when you have those symptoms with no beeps, it's either the CPU, RAM, or Motherboard. Going over every connection several times can help, but it may come down to you reseating the CPU/heatsink/fan, which in turn requires you to remove the thermal paste and starting over.

Check the pins on the CPU too, if you get to that point to make sure none are bent.
